The Right Fit Client
The "RightFitClient" was a gut remodel of a charming 1920s red brick Cape Cod, sitting on a sprawling lot with century old oak trees and a lush lawn. The family had previously worked with Kate Marker Interiors and wanted a timeless, cozy, and functional floor plan and aesthetic for their active lifestyles - with careful consideration given to decisions that would not only suit them now, but be the "right fit" for future life stages.
The revised floor plan created fewer, larger rooms that naturally flow into one another while still having delineation in each space, contributing to a more intimate and welcoming feel. A generous kitchen grounded by a large island and black ILVE stove overlooks a Hearth Room, a perfect spot for conversation and an abundance of natural daylight with the addition of a vaulted ceiling. Custom dining shelving offers generous storage while maintaining a visual flow to the Family Room, which features a brass starburst ceiling fixture as an unexpected and modern design choice.
Our design team sought inspiration from a color palette of mossy greens, faded terra cotta, and textured warm whites, with white oak flooring, stone, and wall paneling detail throughout. Sweet motifs in the form of wallcoverings and tile add doses of pattern in smaller spaces, and organic-inspired woven fixtures and furnishings add a relaxed vibe. Several vintage runners bring a cohesive finishing touch to the space.
